General Species Info (Applies to all Orbweavers)

Above is an example of the basic body shape of an orbweaver. Their wings can be leathery or feathered, depending on the subspecies.

For in-depth lore (and more images) on Orbweavers, go to their Toyhouse world. You do NOT need a Toyhouse account to see the world.

Basic Anatomy:
- All orbweavers resemble dragons. Some have fur and some have scales, depending on the class. They always have at least 3 pairs of horns anywhere on their body and at least 1 pair of wings. The exact amount of wing pairs depends on the subspecies.
- All classes have 2 front legs and no hind legs. The only exception is the Cave subspecies, which have no front legs and 2 hind legs, like a wyvern.- All subspecies have 6 glowing eyes, 3 on each side. The Kingly subclass (Rare) has a 7th eye in the middle.- All subspecies should have at least 5 glowing, spherical orbs on their body. The exact number can vary depending on subspecies and mutations. For more orb lore, click here.
------
Orb Placement:
- OrbWeavers have a total of 5 orbs on their bodies.
- 3 orbs total, one for each pair of horns, and in very rare cases 2 orbs on one pair.
- One orb between the forks of their tongue.
- One orb is by their tail, which is curled around it.

Above is a Land subspecies (Common) Orbweaver. She has 4 pairs of horns with orbs in between them AND an orb in her mouth between her tongue forks. She has a mutation that gives her an extra orb. The orb between her tongue and her tail are required of all orbweavers. All of the orbweavers posted as examples are posted with permission. You won't find your orbweaver design on a page without your permission. Each image links back to the character's profile on Toyhouse when you click on it if you're curious about the artist/designer.

Common Subclasses
(Do not require a MYO but must be submitted for approval)

The Aquatic Subclass

Physical Traits- They have NO fur, only scales.- Their ears are internal and work like a seal's.- They have both gills and a set of lungs. Their gills close off and they switch to using their nostrils and lungs when on land and vice versa when in water. They struggle to walk on land (Most classes do) because they only have front legs.- They can, however, fly if their wing structure allows for flight
-- Most wing structures do NOT allow for flight as they are instead adapted to swimming.
-- Their wings vary in texture/structure from delicate betta fins to tough shark fins. It depends on their location and genetics.
- Their eyes and orbs glow more brightly than other classes (excluding Cave)
-- This is to help them see underwater when sunlight becomes scarce in the ocean depths.
- They have pale or NO pupils.- Their teeth are in rows and resemble a shark's- They have a long, forked tongue with a tiny orb in between the forks- The deeper in the water the orbweaver lives, the larger it grows.- Their scales tend to reflect their environment.
-- Deep sea orbweavers can use bioluminescence to help them survive.
- They have webbed toes
---
Living and Social Habits- This class generally lives alone or in small family groups called pods.
-- Pods are the most common way the aquatic class lives. These family pods provide benefits like protection and easier hunting. Pods will herd schools of fish to hunt, like dolphins.
-- Sometimes individuals will be allowed to join another family's pod. This usually only happens if the individual belonged to a previous pod that had its members die off or it left voluntarily.
-- The deeper-living orbweavers do not live in pods. Deep orbweavers are much larger than their shallow water counterparts and so they do not have any need for group protection.
- Aquatic Orbweaver pods are not territorial, they travel where the food is.
-- Individual aquatic orbweavers without a pod ARE territorial, as they have found a home and food source where they are choosing to stay so they will want to protect it. In rare cases they will make friends with one or two other individuals and choose to live with them. This is not considered a pod because it is too small, and the individuals are not related.
- Individuals will commonly choose to live in shipwrecks or will collect trash and reuse it to make structures that compliment and blend in with their environment.
---
Breeding
- This class's breeding dens, or nurseries, are located in deep sea trenches AND shallow reefs.- Orbweavers will visit a den in groups depending on which depth they are accustomed to. It is not common for aquatic orbweavers of different depths to meet.- Usually, multiple different family pods will travel to these nurseries at the same time once the warm season starts and stay in the area for months, courting members of other pods and then possibly breeding. The pair will become a bonded pair whether or not they have children and may return at later seasons to have their baby.- The now bonded pair will either join one of the parents' pods (common) or will create their own with their baby (less common).- Amethyst and sapphires commonly grow in the nurseries, so these are the most common orbs for aquatic classes. Some parents will also choose more common things like sea glass and seashells to make their childrens' orbs.- Aquatic class babies start out the smallest of the classes, only about 3 feet long.- Once the baby is old enough to supply its own magic from its orbs instead of using its parents', it will choose to either stay in the family pod or on its own. It is common for adolescents to choose to go off on their own in a rebellious phase then choose to return to their family pod later.

The Cave Subclass

Physical Traits:- This is the ONLY class with back legs instead of front legs. This is to aid them in gripping rocks so they can hang upside down.
-- Their claws on their back legs are both hooked and serrated to help grip rock.
- They have leathery, bat-like wings in place of front legs. They stand on two legs without supporting their weight on their wings.
-- Their wings are in ball joint sockets and have a wide range of rotation, complete with thick claws on the wingtips. This also helps them when climbing.
- They are usually scaled but have fluff mixed in, as caves can get chilly. Fluff is usually found on their large bat ears, necks, tails, and knees.- They have large bat ears to aid in hearing and echolocation when their cavern of residence is dark.- Their eyes are reflective like a cat's. Their eyes and orbs also glow to help them see when a cave would naturally be in total darkness.- Their eyes are very light-sensitive, so they tend to only go out at night or on a cloudy day, if they choose to leave their cave at all.- This class has the teeth of an omnivore. They ambush smaller prey and eat fruits.- This class has a prehensile tail to help them to hang upside down.
-- Every other class has a near prehensile tail but not nearly the range of motion that a Cave class orbweaver does.
- Their orbs do not glow extremely bright, but they are brighter than other classes' orbs.
----
Living and Social Habits:- This class will emit small squeaks and chirps to echolocate prey and each other.- This class tries to live socially and are either born into already formed colonies or they join later on in life. Usually colonies have a bonded pair as the "alphas", and these two formed the group originally. Once ruling the pair dies, the colony either splits up or the strongest or wisest orbweavers step up and take the now open positions.- The only limit to colony size is the size of the cave they're living in.- Some cavern orbweavers will choose to live in solitude. This is rare but not impossible. When living in solitude, a cave orbweaver will either find a small cave or a hollowed tree to live in.- Cave orbweavers will make their homes in caverns with underground water sources.- They can handle cave water and all of its dissolved minerals. Humans can not.- The structures of their homes are natural and they create hanging nests out of hay, grasses, feathers, leaves, and twigs, much like a bird's nest.- The nests will fit a mated pair of orbweavers and their children.
----
Breeding:- This class's breeding dens, or nurseries, are located in crystal caverns. Orbweavers will visit a certain den depending on how close it is to their cave's location. These caverns are located deep underground.- The younger, unpaired orbweavers of a colony will travel to these caves in the colder months of the year and meet with orbweavers of other colonies.- This visitation and courtship season lasts for months.- Sometimes orbweavers won't breed with someone they met the first season and instead find that individual at a later season and bring gifts in a much longer courtship ritual.- Sometimes cavern orbweavers will switch colonies if they find someone of a different colony that they're interested in but don't want to mate with yet.- Lone orbweavers without a colony will also meet here in hopes of finding one to join.- The breeding cave season is NOT only for searching for mates. It is also just a time to socialize and meet new faces and make friends.- The most common materials used for orbs in this class are quartz and raw ore of precious metals, because they are the most abundant. Parents can, however, dig for more rare crystals in these caves.- Cave class babies are the second smallest class- Once the baby is old enough to supply its own magic from its orbs instead of using its parents', it will join the next season's travel to the breeding caves to meet more orbweavers outside of their birth colony.

The Land Subclass

Physical Traits:- This class sometimes has fur and sometimes has scales. It completely depends on which land animal their design is based off of.
-- If they have fur, the amount of fluff will vary depending on geography. An arctic land orbweaver will not have short lion's fur and a desert land orbweaver will not have thick polar bear fur.
- This class generally does not like water. Nobody knows why but they've been observed to be adverse to it.- Their eyes resemble the animal the orbweaver is based off of- Their ears are ALWAYS external ears. The ears also tend to resemble the ears of the animal the orbweaver is based off of.- They have canine-like teeth. The creature they're based off of may be a herbivore, but land orbweavers are carnivores.
----
Living and Social Habits:- This class always lives in groups called packs.
-- These groups are nomadic and hunt as they travel. The pack sizes vary but there is no real limit.
-- Packs are ruled by the strongest orbweaver and their mate, because they are seen as the protector.
These packs are only threatened by other larger packs and baby orbweavers are in danger of attacks by other predators, though this is rare.
- Packs of any size will travel to the breeding caves in a 6-month long migration to meet other groups. Just like other classes, these migrations are not only for breeding but also for socializing.
-- The uninterested, weak, and elderly stay behind with some of the strongest orbweavers as guardians.
-- Usually, packs do not fight during this period because they're all so split up from members travelling.

----
Breeding:- Just like other classes, this class travels in a migration to meet other groups at the breeding caves.- The breeding caves are one very large localized underground network with multiple caverns.- Some caverns are crystal-filled.
These are the breeding ones. The ones without crystals are for non-parents to rest and socialize.
- Socializing orbweavers either make or catch up with friends across other packs or begin (or continue) courting.- Parents will rest with their young until they're old enough to travel home with the rest of the pack.
-
-
-

The Mountain Subclass

Physical Traits:- They have very dense, fluffy fur to keep warm in high altitudes.- Their ears are external and fluffy!
-- They usually resemble a big cat's ears but can be other shapes.
- Their wings resemble dragon wings.
-- The "outside" of the wing has fur and/or feathers to keep the skin warm. Sometimes the "inside" has feathers too and the wings begin to resemble a bird's wings instead of a dragon's.
- They are ambush predators and tend to dive like a peregrine falcon when hunting. They are not long-distance fliers.
-- Orbweavers with completely feathered wings have more success in hunting, as they're quieter.
- Their eyes resemble a bird of prey's to aid in hunting.- Their eyes and orbs do glow, but not as brightly as the cave or aquatic classes.
-- Their eyes are built to tolerate bright light. They do struggle with adjusting to seeing better in the dark because of this.
- They have large saber tooth fangs. Like a stag's antlers, the larger the fangs, the more impressive the orbweaver.
-- Generally the males have larger fangs than females, but the females will still have fangs.
- They have a medium length, forked tongue with a tiny orb in between the forks.- They have very large and strong hooked claws to help them grip the ice and snow. They use these claws to dig out homes into the mountain face.- They have "snowshoes"- the bottom of their feet and their stomach / tail is usually extra fluffy to help them not sink into the snow.
Their fur tends to help them blend in with their environment, but they can have any coat pattern.
----
Living and Social Habits:- This class lives in social groups called "villages". They are called this because this class is not nomadic. They will settle on a mountaintop and carve out homes in the rock face. These structures all together resemble a village.- Villages of orbweavers hunt together in packs to ambush larger prey.- Villages are stationary and territorial. They will fight other groups of orbweavers that are seen as a threat to their territory.
-- Sometimes large villages will try to take the land of smaller villages.
- Villages are as large as there is room for them.
-- Smaller villages will sometimes find a larger one and join it if there is room, but this is a rare case.
-- Once a village outgrows its territory, it will either split apart into 2 smaller villages or it will relocate to a larger territory.
- The larger the village the better, as it tends to be more secure with size.
There is one bonded pair in charge of each village. They either founded the village or one of them is descended from the founders.
- It is very rare (but possible) to find a mountain orbweaver living alone.
----
Breeding:- This class's breeding dens and nurseries are located in the bowels of extinct volcanoes.
-- Their eggs and young need warmth for their first few weeks, so they chose these sheltered places.
---- Their body heat will fill the volcano to a safe temperature for their young.

- The volcanoes are nurseries only. Orbweavers that are travelling to meet others and possibly court stay outside and dig into the base of the volcano. The volcanoes themselves are only filled with parents and babies.
-Multiple villages will meet at the closest nursery. Orbweavers will either meet outsiders from other villages to court them, or they will already be courting an orbweaver from their own village and travel to incubate an egg.
-- The entire village does not travel, only those interested in meeting new faces and possibly settling down.
- The annual travel to the breeding den is referred to as a "migration". --^-- These migrations last for 6 months from start to finish and are NOT only for breeding, they are also socializing time between villages. ^

Rare Subclasses
(require a rare MYO and must be submitted for approval)

The Space Subclass

Physical Traits:- They have just skin, no fur or scales.
-- They have a thick, insulating layer of fat under their skin to regulate temperature and pressure.
- They have internal ears built to take space's pressure. They are useless in space where sound waves cannot travel but they are very sensitive on planets with atmospheres.- They do not need oxygen to breathe, and instead rely on hydrogen, one of the most abundant gasses in space. Earth's atmosphere could suffocate them.- Large Claws- Large, leathery wings.
-- Occasionally the wings have feathers, this is rare.
- A forked tail with 1 orb between the forks- Any type of teeth- They can have 2 heads. Each has its own personality.
-- This is a trait that is almost only in this class except for incredibly rare cases.
-- This happens when the incubation process goes awry (Egg too hot), the babies merge into conjoined twins.
^
----
Living and Social Habits:- This class lives and travels in family groups, occasionally taking in a lone orbweaver. They are mostly located near the orbweavers' home planet.
- This class rarely hunts and can go a long time without food.
-- They stop on planets to eat and gather materials they find valuable and then travel again.
---- This class is known to have the best goods for sale because of their travels and are frequently asked to trade when they visit the orbweavers' home planet.
- This class will usually live near nebulae when they are not traveling, because nebulae are the breeding sites for space orbweavers. They will rarely stay in one spot for long.
----
Breeding:- This class goes to socially gather and possibly breed in nebulae. There are no migrations like other classes, but the groups will usually stay near nebulae in hopes of meeting other orbweavers. They will typically choose a "home" nebula they will return to more frequently than the others.
-
-
-

The Kingly Subclass

Physical Traits:- They have smooth, short fur or scales depending on their climate.- Some have a mix of scales with fur in between or vice versa.
-- They can occasionally have feathers as accents on their body, but they are not completely feathered like a bird.
- They have external ears that look like and move like a deer's to detect prey and potential threats from other orbweavers.- They have 7 eyes, which is exclusive to this class. They have 3 eyes on each side of their head like other orbweavers and then an extra one in the middle.- Large Claws- Large, leathery or feathered wings.
-- Feathered wings make hunting more silent, so feathers are more common because they offer a survival advantage.
- This class always has one pair of antlers on their head (No more, no less) with 1-2 orbs between this pair of antlers.
-- Other classes can have horns resembling antlers, but it is very uncommon.
- Snake-like teeth- This class commonly has a horn pair on their nose with an orb in between, but it is not a requirement to be in the Kingly Class.- Like every other class, this class has 5 total orbs, one of them on their (short in this class) tongue and one of them on the tail.
----
Living and Social Habits:- This class lives solitarily, as they are naturally very jealous of their territory.- They will occasionally venture out during the warmer seasons to meet others and possibly breed, but it is not a common event like in the more social classes. They will usually end up bonding with local Kingly orbweavers rather than travel far from home.
-- They will live with a single mate and a child if they live with anyone, but again it is rare for them to share like that.
- They construct structures that resemble castles as their homes. This is where the class name comes from.
-- These structures are frequently made of stone and mud, but this class likes to display their wealth so they will embed valuable objects into the walls of their "castles".
- This class uses stealth and ambushes their prey. This class will prey on creatures as large as themselves.- Kingly orbweavers will elaborately decorate themselves and their homes with jewelry and animal pelts. They are the biggest customers of merchant orbweavers, though they are almost NEVER merchants themselves because they are too territorial to leave home for long.
-- They decorate themselves as both an intimidation tactic and a mate-attracting tactic.
Intimidation- They were able to keep their jewels for a while because nobody has been brave enough to steal from them yet.
Mate- If they are able to keep and protect their jewels for a long time, they are more appealing as a partner.
^
----
Breeding:
- This class will travel alone to their local built breeding den that resembles a castle. This castle, like other breeding dens, is where this class gathers to meet others, not just to breed.- They will take as many of their valuables with them that they can carry for fear of them being stolen while they are gone. This puts them in danger of being robbed but it is rare.- These orbweavers will gather to meet friends and potential partners.- These orbweavers will not disclose where they live to others they meet for fear of their jewels. They will only show their homes to a new partner.- When an orbweaver selects a partner, they will move into the larger home between the two of them.

Legendary Subclasses
(Require a Legendary myo and must be submitted for approval)

The Godly SubclassThere is a gore warning for the subclass below this one. It is the last subclass on this page so you aren't missing anything else!

Physical Traits:- This class almost always has smooth, dense fur, like an otter's.- Only ONE of their pairs of horns (on their head) has a glowing halo around it. For more info on halos, go here.- Their tails are split into 2-3 forks. They cannot have any more or any less.- They will sometimes have extra orbs, enough to fit in each tail fork- They have large, feathered wings, 1-3 pairs along their spine.- They have internal ears hidden under feather plumes.- They occasionally have feathers clumped in spots on their bodies, mostly along the joints (elbows, ankles, jaw, etc)- This class can have up to 8 orbs, unlike other classes which only have 5.
-- 1 orb in the fork of their tongue
-- 1-3 orbs in their tail, depending on the number of forks.
-- 3 orbs on the rest of their body, like any other class.

----
Living and Social Habits:- This class is the only class that does not need to actively seek prey out to eat. They have the ability to create small portals to drag prey through to them.
-- These portals cannot open up into a far away place. They are restricted to a 20-mile radius around the orbweaver.
-- An orbweaver can go through these portals. This is how they travel long distances.
-- Because this class naturally has more magic than other classes, they can use these portals regularly without shortening their lifespan too much (Short compared to other classes, at least), but they still do not use these trivially.
- Godly Class orbweavers have the ability to condense clouds enough to where they are a semi- solid surface that the orbweaver can live on.
-- They create one cloud and will stay on it for life, as creating multiple will drain too much of their magic. They can expand and shape their current cloud.
- This class is considered nomadic because their clouds will blow around from place to place, but because of the spell they will not dissipate.
----
Breeding:- This class does not need a partner to create a child, as they have a surplus of magic.
-- They can choose to create a child WITH a partner by splitting the magic as any other couple would, but they do not need to do this.
- This class is solitary by nature, so they generally will not have a partner or be seen with other orbweavers. However, they will occasionally meet others in seasonal gatherings like other classes.
-- These gatherings are usually small because not everyone comes to meet. Since this class can very easily travel, this class has one permanent gathering area for the entire globe, instead of smaller local locations that other classes have.
- Unlike other classes, courtship is not a big part of their gatherings because courtship is not a requirement for this class to procreate, as they can do it by themselves.- Just because this class is solitary by nature doesn't mean they can't have friends or partners!
